Diladele Licensing EXPENSIVE! Doesn't Justify for Home/Family Usage

****** THIS POST IS INTENDED AS HEADS UP FOR FOLKS WHO'RE CONSIDERING HTTPS FILTERING *******
Background:
I've been using pfSense for the last few months. For family/kids safety was looking for https filtering. Came across Diladele. I ended up installing their latest v4.3. Only after I had installed it, I realized that Diladele is not free. It's actually quite costly for personal/home use.Link to Diladele Licensing/Pricing Plans: http://www.quintolabs.com/licensing.php
Licensing Model: SaaS (Software as a Service), it subscription based with annual cost of:Personal: ~$44 / Year with upto 7 devices
SOHO: ~$290 / Year w/ upto 25 devices
Note: As if that was not enough, you pay taxes/VAT eventhough you are not a resident of the country the software was built at.
Here is what their website states:
According to the tax law of The Netherlands we must assume you are making this purchase as Dutch national and we must impose 21% Value Added Tax (VAT) on the final price.Firstly, the Diladele should not be a subscription based. Unlike Antivirus software which needs constant updates to the virus definition. Diladele should be sold based on product/version and not subscription. Additionally, these days a family of four (like ours) typical have more than 7 devices when you account for not just PCs, laptops, but also e-readers/kindle, tablets, gaming consoles, etc. The pricing model should not be based on the number of devices to be filtered.
I wasted time & effort to install Diladele just to realize that this software is not a public domain/free software. I wished I had known it upfront so I wouldn't have gone through the trouble. I fully understand that the company needs to make money and for that schools/institutions and other businesses should be targeted and not end users (families) that are trying to keep the kids away from questionable contents.
I'll be uninstalling Diladele and reverting back to the Squid/Guard proxy services.

They're a 3rd party unaffiliated with PFSense. Send Diladele an email stating your opinion about their business model. I remember looking at Diladele briefly when I first installed PFSense a few years back, but I quickly realized they were not free. I can't remember if it indicated in the package list if they were a paid service.

$44/yr is expensive? Most people have paid that in Netflix fees in 4 months…
