Can I build the package from the patched source and then replace the softflowd binary on the live install?

Building on the same version of FreeBSD as pfsense

I realize there will be potential issues on future updates

Should any of the build variables be different to a vanilla FreeBSD install.?

I am a Long time user of NetBSD with no ports experiences and limited FreeBSD exposure beyond pfsense
