Upgraded APU-30G from 2.3.1 to 2.3.1_1 => bricked?
-
Having run pfSense for years on a homebrew box, I upgraded to a Netgate APU-30G almost 18 months ago. The box has performed flawlessly.
I logged into a few days ago and saw that there was an update available and invoked the upgrade. It appeared to apply flawlessly and the system said, "update applied successfully…rebooting" but repeatedly cycled through a 60 second wait time followed by numerous additional 20 second waits without successfully connecting. After failing to connect for over 10 minutes, I <gasp>pulled the power cord and let it be for 30 seconds and then plugged the power back in. Again, I could not connect to the administration web pages and the box never even responded to pings.
I have connected to the serial console with a Serial-to-USB cable. It is the first time I've tried to (had to) do that since using pfSense or having the Netgate device, so I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly. But on my linux computer the Netgate device connects to /dev/ttyUSB0 per dmesg, and I cannot connect to it.
Any idea what I should do? I feel stuck. Cannot connect via ethernet or serial console. Am I missing something? Am I to the stage where I disassemble the device and try to load a fresh image to the memory card?
Thanks.</gasp>
