Strange problem with LAN interface on ALIX.
-
Hello,
I use ALIX2c3 routerboard with Dual WAN. Sometines vr0 inferface (LAN) just stops responding… In the same time interfaces vr1 (WAN) and vr2 (WAN2) are working fine. So I connected to webGUI from the Internet (from completly different network) and go to Diagnostic -> ARP table.
I can see there My two WAN connections and something strange - 192.168.1.255 with MAC address ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff which is broadcast address of My LAN network 192.168.1.0/24. I don't know what is going on? ARP table was flushed away? How?
PS: I don't use Static ARP on DHCP server.

I get something like this on System logs: System

Aug 13 10:18:18 php: : Processing -
Aug 13 10:18:18 php: : Not a valid interface action ""
Aug 13 10:18:18 php: : Processing start -
Aug 13 10:18:18 php: : Hotplug event detected for vr0 but ignoring since interface is not set for DHCP
Aug 13 10:18:18 php: : Processing vr0 - startI do have DHCP on this interface. What is going on?

That message means that the nic registered a link drop. The reference to DHCP is the client, not the server- as in the LAN interface has a static IP, not dynamic. I would double check the cable, switchport, etc.

Thanks dotdash. I will change switch then.
What about My first post? Any ideas?

ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff is the arp-broadcast-address.
So it shouldnt be a problem if it is displayed as your IP broadcast-address.But it sounds a bit strange that you cannot communicate over this interface at that time.
