Running out of space on my root
-
Hi All
I am running pfsense 2.2.4-RELEASE (amd64)
I keep running out of space on my root, My log files seem to keep growing even though I have specified that the Log should rotate every 30 days.
I have to keep on manually deleting it to regain space.Could anyone perhaps assist me?

And where you setting that exactly? And what logs files are you talking about that are using up your root of how big?? What other packages do you have installed?
Also why would you be running an outdated version??

Many thanks for the reply
Using Squid3, SquidGuard and Sarge
In services->proxy server->logging Settings-> Log Rotate
The location is /var/squid/logs
I would love to go to the new version, but I have too many projects currently and if the migration has any issues, I will be in a world of hurt LOL

2.2.6 was release back in dec of 2015..
How big is your root that your dealing with? Move some of your old logs off.. Rotate the logs more often than once a month. Get a larger disk, put the logs on different than root, etc. etc.

hi
My root pertition is small as it would not boot properly if I made it any bigger.
so
root is 3.9Gb there is lots of space on the other partition (around 200gb), My worry is if I move it then Sarge etc will not work properly.
Also I dont want to manually move it all the time.how can i see if the log files are rotating as required? I am assuming that they are not as I have dropped it down to 30 days but that drive is sitting on 66% and still grows daily (30 days have already elapsed)

How's this? Back up your config to a USB drive. Re-partition or replace your present hard disk for a larger model, or simply re-size your root partition. Install PFS back onto the hard disk (if you replaced it) and restore the backup you made earlier. This isn't really a problem if you're at least willing to do something to resolve it.
