Saving config to removable media
-
Hello-
I am having problems getting 1.2.1-RC1 to save a config to my removable flash card.
The card is formatted FAT16 and the OS sees it as:
******* Working on device /dev/da0 ******* parameters extracted from in-core disklabel are: cylinders=970 heads=64 sectors/track=32 (2048 blks/cyl) parameters to be used for BIOS calculations are: cylinders=970 heads=64 sectors/track=32 (2048 blks/cyl) Media sector size is 512 Warning: BIOS sector numbering starts with sector 1 Information from DOS bootblock is: The data for partition 1 is: sysid 6 (0x06),(Primary 'big' DOS (>= 32MB)) start 249, size 1987335 (970 Meg), flag 0 beg: cyl 0/ head 3/ sector 61; end: cyl 985/ head 28/ sector 60 The data for partition 2 is: <unused>The data for partition 3 is: <unused>The data for partition 4 is:</unused></unused>
When choosing 98 from the menu, it says I can choose from:
da0 da0s1I choose da0s1 and get a "Error while mounting da0s1".
Jumping out to the shell, I see /dev/da0s1 mounted on /tmp/mnt/cf.
I can write files to this device, make directories, etc.
Ok, so maybe because its already mounted I am getting the error… umount /dev/da0s1.
Try 98 again, same thing.
Jump out to the shell.. its mounted again on /tmp/mnt/cf. But no saved configuration.I saw some post saying there needed to be a conf directory on the media.. so I create that. Still does not work.
Any ideas?

What size partition are you trying to write to? I have a 4 GB usb drive that I have successfully and I think the format type of the partition fat32 and it is able write to it from the command prompt.
It worked well. I have done it serveral times. I pull my usb drive and check the format in the AM. I will post the type and format.

As shown above in the fdisk output.. its a 1GB partition. I have no problems mounting and writing to it manually. The option 98 does not mount and write the config file.
