Axiomtek out of options?
-
Hi all, I'm new to all of this and have been looking over the boards for a solution over the last week.
Bottom line, I have an Axiomtek NA-100 that was running 2.1.3 nano maybe, on a 4MB CF card, serial version. I had the system running to the point where the WAN and LAN1 ports were working. I noticed the update software button and like an idiot, hit it. Now the machine is bricked.
Seems like a simple fix, but I have four computers and no serial ports on any of them. The one computer that has the CF reader is windows and I cant seem to get VirtualBox to see the card.
I did not originally install pfSense and I have tried loading it onto the CF card, but the box will not boot.
It turns on, LAN lights turn on, but I am not able to access the system through any of the LAN ports. So, am I just out of luck here and need to find someone with a serial port?
Thanks in advance for the assistance… -
If the system board has a header for VGA output, then you can use ribbon cable connector to connect a monitor. With a USB keyboard you can do normal installation.
The tough part is finding connector size that match the header. Even within a single vendor, different model could be using different header.

There's a good chance you hit this:
https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Boot_Troubleshooting#pfSense_2.2_and_laterWhich is relatively easy to fix as shown there if you have access to the console. As others have said use a USB to serial adapter to get that.
If you need to access the CF card, which is formatted with FreeBSDs UFS, one option I have used in the past is to boot the GhostBSD live DVD which can read that. http://www.ghostbsd.org/

Thanks to all of you for the great advice. I'll be working on these suggestions over the weekend.
