Verizon Jetpack® 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot - AC791L as a WAN
-
I have seen many posts on making the Verizon Jetpack AC791L work as the WAN connection.
It works on PFSense using the tether.
For those of you who may be interested, here is the story.
I have been enduring AT&T DSL for years. I recently signed up for unlimited broadband from unlimitedville.
Once I activated the AC791L, I started looking into the setup steps. I wasn't successful in tethering at first.
This is what works:
1. Make sure your FW is updated
Version
2.3.2-RELEASE-p1 (amd64)
built on Tue Sep 27 12:13:07 CDT 2016
FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-p92. Make sure your Hotspot is updated
3. When I tether the Hostspot it is recognized as ugen1.4: <netgear, inc.="">at usbus1.
/root: usbconfig -d ugen1.4 dump_device_desc
ugen1.4: <aircard 791l="" netgear,="" inc.="">at usbus1, cfg=1 md=HOST spd=HIGH (480Mbps) pwr=ON (500mA)bLength = 0x0012
bDescriptorType = 0x0001
bcdUSB = 0x0200
bDeviceClass = 0x0002 <communication device="">bDeviceSubClass = 0x0000
bDeviceProtocol = 0x0000
bMaxPacketSize0 = 0x0040
idVendor = 0x0846
idProduct = 0x68e1
bcdDevice = 0xffff
iManufacturer = 0x0001 <netgear, inc.="">iProduct = 0x0002 <aircard 791l="">iSerialNumber = 0x0003 <your serial="" number="">bNumConfigurations = 0x00034. usbconfig -d ugen1.4 set_config 1
You should see the following:
cdce0: <cdc ethernet="" control="" model="" ecm="">on usbus1
ue0: <usb ethernet="">on cdce0
ue0: Ethernet address: <your mac="" address="">5. Assign the interface to WAN
6. Configure the interface by enabling it, and setting type to DHCPDone.</your></usb></cdc></your></aircard></netgear,></communication></aircard></netgear, >
