Install and Config on Corporate Network
-
I am new to Pfsense…I have a requirement to install pfsense on the corporate network to simply function as a proxy server (IE) for a small number of users (utilising Squid).
Is there a guide out there that can direct me on what the LAN and WAN IPs should be set to? I am able to assign an internal IP address (LAN), but I am unclear on what the WAN address should be - it must not be on the same subnet as the LAN interface.
So what should the WAN IP be set to?
Thanks,
Ash -
That depends on the rest of the company network and its design.
Pulling out a number without knowing ^ is like throwing a dice.BTW: how did this job find you?

All,
The LAN interface is not a strict requirement.
It is possible to setup pfsense as a proxy server with a single interface.

One armed bandit, hairpin proxy connection - yeah that sounds like a great setup…What is this sites current network look like, what is it using for its edge router/firewall? Does it just have its own internet, or some site to site connection back to HQ or larger company office via p2p link or mpls, etc..?

Common, if you're a corporation you should subscribe to Netgate's professional service. I applaud people for helping you here. No I am not from Netgate, but they have so many nice free stuff.

Does not compute. So understand if your call out about it.. ;)
Don't give up- Roll with it and be prepared to be called out. And remember that no one here has figured out the crystal ball we stole from the weird looking lady at the carnival..

I think I know the problem. My gramma mentioned someone stole her personalised lawn bowling ball. Funny that.
p.s. beware she is really pissed. >:(
