Update Available Packages on Package Manager?
-
How can I update the Available Packages?
I see some software packages are old….
Ex. squidGuard is Beta 1.2.0_1 on the Package list. However, I found out that the current release version is 1.4 Beta from "http://www.squidguard.org/" -
You cant.
You can install whatever is on the list of availlable packages. If you want a more up to date version you have to hack it together manually.
(which is not supported) -
Thanks for the answer!
I guess I need to hope the pfSense team update the list more up-to-date… -
Or you start coding yourself ;)
Also if you really need a more up to date version you could open a bounty and hope someone takes it.Afaik dvserg is already working on a newer version of squidguard.
Read the forum a bit more to find out something. -
You really have a few choices.
1. Email the developer that created the package. dv_serg at mail.ru
2. Wait for someone to do it eventually.
3. Sponsor a bounty for someone to do it.
4. Do it yourself. If you choose this route then this may link help you get started.

Already exists SquidGuard 1.3 version for pfSense 1.2.1/1.3 (FreeBSD 7.x).
For pfSense 1.2 based on FreeBSD 6.x exists only SguidGuard 1.2.x port version.
You can select 1.2.1 pfSense… -
I should have noticed that since I am running pfSense 1.2.1 on several live systems and it works great for my needs.
