Pfsense cannot detect kernel after installation reboot
-
Hi all,
I've installed pfsense on an old box using the steps outlined here:
http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Installing_pfSense
It states that it can't load the kernel after reboot. Anyone who has encountered the same problem?
My system specifications:
MB: Via P4VMM2 rev 8.1
HD: Western Digital WD400
Memory: 1GB DDR SDRAM -
What version of pfSense? I've had troubles with recent 1.2.1 builds - see http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,11963.0.html

I have the identical problem on a fresh install from the 1.2 LiveCD package. This is on a system with the following specs:
P2-450 AMD K2 chipset
512mb RAM
20GB IDE HDD
ZYNX 4 port NIC (my card model shows on the HCL as ok)When I install, and then reboot the box to boot off the hard drive, it attempts to load the Kernel and dies.

I've installed pfSense 1.x to 2.0 successfully on many systems.
Make sure there is not a usb thumb drive plugged in during the install to the hard drive.
With IDE systems make sure the hard drive is the primary and the CD-ROM is secondary.
