VLAN in combination with Windows Server 2012 as DHCP
-
Hi to you all,
I've got a question. A colleague of mine is setting up VLAN's in our school. At the moment he's testing and everything works, except for one thing. When using Pfsense as DHCP everything works like a charm, but when this is disabled and Windows Server 2012 serves as DHCP, it doesn't work. The Windows Server 2012 with DHCP can't be reached with a ping test.
We cannot connect from VLAN with IP 100.0.X.X to LAN with IP 10.0.X.X. All firewall rules are opened.
What can we do to get it working? Maybe there are a couple of things he has overlooked and we can try?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Sincerely yours,
Stefaan

So did you setup your pfsense vlans to relay to your dhcp server. Did you setup your dhcp server scopes to hand out pfsense as the gateway for each vlan?
What are you rules on your vlan interfaces.
"VLAN with IP 100.0.X.X"
So your using public IP space internally? Do you own this 100.0.x.x address space?

Dear John,
Thank you for your answer. This morning we succeeded to get it working. We forgot to change the gateway in the Windows Server 2012, it still had the old gateway ip-address. Now it's working like a charm!
Thanks again for the help!
Now we're going to complete the other settings, hopefully these work as well:-)
Sincerely yours,
Stefaan
