VPN disabled and still using VPN DNS
-
Hi all, it's been awhile.
I have setup a openvpn to a friends place in the UK and whenever I have the openvpn service running I am using his dns which is not what I want.
basically when I turn the service on but have this rule enabled it forwards all my traffic to the LAN which is what I would like, but uses the VPN dns.
Is there a way for me to change this? (if this is in the wrong section sorry, I thought it was a general question because it involves both DNS and VPN)
Thanks

Do you run your own DNS server? What is your DHCP server giving out as DNS entries?

I am not running my own DNS server using ISP provided DNS, when i have the OpenVPN service turned on it uses the VPN dns and when i turn it off it uses the WAN dns. I would like it to always use the WAN dns.

Why don't you put your ISP's DNS servers into the DHCP server settings? Then all of the clients would use those DNS servers.
And if you're not running internal DNS, why does it really matter which DNS servers you're using?
Did you Google solutions?
