Certain sites only work on IE8
-
Dear All,
I am sorry if its off the topic…. but our company need to excess certain DMS sites which work only on IE 8 . As a result we are struck to Win XP.
All these desktops are behind pfsense firewall 2.3.2. running squid. Is it possible to do certain settings on the firewall so that when they access these sites they seem to come from IE8 not IE11.
I am completely clueless.
Any Pointers ?regards,

Hi,
You're on the wrong track.
Even if you manage to change dynamically the TCP stream to these servers, the return will some kind of html language that "IE 8" used to understand (and only IE8 - ).
If the stream is https (TLS) then you're out of luck.I advise you to stop concentrating on pfSense, and start to rewrite those "DMS Sites", that's where the problems are. Keeping those "10+" years systems up will cost you a lot of time and money as soon as they go down, if you don't start NOW to change them.
Btw : I really thought that all people that liked Windows XP stepped up to Windows 7, and stayed there (Win 8.x is a horror - Win 10 is still a no-go for societies I guess).

I recently saw Windows 98 running in a business! :o

Luckly its not https…. (10 yr old DMS sites...). They are all http sites.

Yep. Two folded :
Keep your Windows.
Buy many candles and burn them all, all the time. -
