Installing a console screen saver
-
Hi !
There was an old topic here that talked about installing green_saver and setting it up.
Unfortunately the files described in the topic are no longer available.I would like my console to turn off after a few minutes, and I don't know where I could get a working green_saver.ko
for my 2.3.4-RELEASE-p1 (amd64)Any suggestion will be more than welcome :)
thanks !

Hi did you find a solution to this? I have 2.4.2-RELEASE (amd64) version installed on a laptop and can't find a way of disabling monitor which is causing the system to overheat.

Turn it off?
Enable ssh for day-to-day maintenance?
Turn the monitor on for things like upgrades then turn it off again?

It's a laptop screen so there isn't a seperate power button for the for turning the display off.
I think is has to be controlled by pfsense but can't find an a package for that.
For old version of pfsense there was a green_saver.ko module. Wondering if there was something similar

I'd also like to know how to configure this on an amd64 setup.
Is it a simple matter of copying over the relevant .ko files into /boot/kernel and configuring loader.conf?
I don't need 'much' in the way of video features, just blank the screen after a timeout, and wake it when there's local keyboard activity. Don't need resolution control, hardware acceleration or any of that.
