SG-2220 Network interfaces 1gb.. but one isn't?

Hi everybody.
For almost a year I'm happily using my SG-2220, after years of doing pfsense on old i386 systems.
But now the thing, my ISP upgraded my download to 250Mb (yeah :) ). However, initially I thought "that's stupid, 'cause the modem only has 100Mb ports".
I figured this was the case because my SG-2220 showed on WAN interface (autoselect) 100TX full-duplex.
The LAN port on the SG shows 1000T full-duplex.
Then when I finally found time to dive into this thing of upgrading me , but not giving me the right LAN port speeds on the modem..
It turns out.. Modem can do 1000TX Full-Duplex. Tried this with a laptop, and works. Of course.
So the problem I have is this:
My SG-2220 does not run on 1000T nor 1000TX when connected to the modem.
Tried 3 different cables (Cat 5, Cat 5e and Cat 6), all cables were able to have Gb connection from laptop to modem.
Same cables used from laptop to WAN-port on SG-2220… and.. 100TX again :-(
Putting the WAN-port on 1000T or 1000TX results in 'no carrier' until I drop dead..
Need to set it on autoselect.. and I get 100..
What's happening? Is the port broken?
Can I check anything else, what did I miss?
I bought the thing on October 12 last year.
Thanks!

Is the modem port set to auto-negotiate? Sorry if I missed it in the OP, that's the first thing I would check.

what happens if you use a different port on the sg-2220 to connect to the modem, or if you connect the sg-2220 port that only does 100mbps to the lan?
don't try to force the speed & duplex, just focus on fixing the autonegotiation.

Can you provide us the name, model and vendor of that modem?

That device has a 1-year warranty. Sounds like you should immediately register your device for support if it isn't already and open a ticket.
Are you running pfSense 2.3.4-p1 like you should be? If not you should probably upgrade.
Your WAN interface should be configured as: Default (no preference, typically autoselect)
