FreeRadius 3.x pfSense authentication with MD5-Password
-
I setup FreeRadius 3.x, configured it to work properly for authentictation, with 2 FreeBSD Servers, and 6 Jails on those servers including SMTP, IMAP. Added in my one Debian Linux server all worked great. Then tried to tie in my pfSense box itself, but couldn't make it work.
I finally discovered that it was the fact that the user password was set for MD5-Password Encryption. If I change that to clear text it works.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
I do plan to switch to mOTP in the future where this probably isn't a concern since you have to remove the users password to enable mOTP. First I want passwords working. I don't want to have the passwords stored as clear text, and I don't have a clue why this seems to be a requirement on the pfSense authentication when MD5 Encryption works fine with FreeBSD PAM-Radius authentication.
