      I used to have PIA vpn and never has any issues.  now trying NordVPN and can not make it run on ubuntu 16.04 VM

      Here is some info:

      rebooted system w/o VPN connected

      sudo cat /etc/resolv.conf
      nameserver 103.86.96.100
      nameserver 103.86.99.100

      (those ^ were recommended by NordVPN )

      ping google.com => OK

      nslookup

      google.com
      Server:        103.86.96.100
      Address:    103.86.96.100#53

      Non-authoritative answer:
      Name:    google.com
      Address: 172.217.25.46

      Connected to us1221 NordVPN server TCP

      ping google.com
      ping: unknown host google.com

      nslookup

      google.com
      ;; Got recursion not available from 103.86.96.100, trying next server
      Server:        103.86.99.100
      Address:    103.86.99.100#53

      ** server can't find google.com: REFUSED

      ????

      =================

      Wonder if anybody had experienced this and what was the resolution?

      Thx

        How is pfSense involved in this, and what does it have to do with firewalling?  If this is an issue configuring pfSense with OpenVPN, there is a forum for that.
