Help reinstalling pfsense on router that uses CF
-
I'm a total newb and have no clue how to install pfsense on this device seen here
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pfsense-ITX-Firewall-Router-1-WAN-3-LAN-4GB-CF-HDD-1GB-RAM/323145489571?hash=item4b3cf8dca3:g:ZR0AAOSwGWBaqtGA
it uses a compact flash cart. I loaded the image to the flash cart from my windows 10 computer and then put it back into the router. I'm assuming it's not that easy. I can't seem to find a tutorial that explains the step by step process. This unit doesn't have a monitor at all.
are there any guides/videos anyone can point me in the right direction? are there any prebuilt images that will run out of the box? I've downloaded pfsense pfSense-2.1.5-RELEASE-4g-i386-nanobsd-20140825-0744 and used win32diskimager to install to the compact flash cart but it still doesn't boot properly

That version is ancient.
No current versions support that hardware.
The nanobsd install is dead. The lifetime of the release shown below is probably best measured in months - Maybe weeks.
I cannot find any reference on Intel ARK for a Celeron M Series. Assuming 32-bit
You DID NOT buy a pfSense Firewall. You bought a piece of ancient hardware from someone who is illegally using the pfSense mark to sell their junk. And if you paid anywhere close to $135 for it you got taken for a ride.
You MIGHT get some joy using this at https://www.pfsense.org/download/ :

Yes, 2.3.5_1 is the highest stable version you will be able to put on there. 2.3.6 snapshots are available.
You write the nanobsd image to the CF card directly and boot it which looks like what you were doing. I recommend using Etcher though.
The image you linked to I would have expected to boot there so either it didn't write correctly or that hardware requires some quirk we know nothing about. Did you extract it? Win32imager requires that, Etcher can do it for you.

CPU (very reliable) ;D 100% positive feedback. Oh yes, typical smart fraudster on ebay.

Just noticed the badly photoshopped antenna removal from that image. ::)
