Port aggregation
-
Ok so I am quite new to all of this so please bear with me.
Essentially I have 5 Gigabit ports on my router. 1 is being used for wan 1 is being used for a vlan and then I have 3 empty ports. I would like to use the 3 ports for an aggregated lan link to my managed switch to achieve a faster connection.
I have tried to use a bridge but it doesn't seem to like that as my network goes down as soon as I plug in more than just the main LAN1 port (so I have LAN1, LAN2, and LAN3, LAN1 is the officially designated lan port by pfsence).
I have absolutely no use for more vlans as I only have one device that uses Ethernet. I am not worried about cpu cycles as the processors I have are a bit overpowered for this application.
If you have any advice I would very much appreciate it. Thanks,

How fast is your Internet connection? Unless it's over 1 Gb, aggregation won't accomplish much. Only traffic to/from the Internet passes through pfSense.

Even if over 1 gig, wouldn't matter lagg is not going to allow 1 device to use more than 1 physical path..
From the OP statements - other than a failover for failed port.. I don't see any use to setting up a lag.. And what switch is he using? Most likely since he doesn't have any vlans, just the 1 lan connection more than likely doesn't even have as smart switch capable of lagg, etc.
