Why Pfsense firewall is important ?
-
Hello i am Asking for the importance of firewall as of now our company has no firewall because of our ERP system via lan if we activate the firewall in pc the firewall does not allowed the connection of our system.. is their is a way in pfsense to bypass it ?

A firewall is a barrier against attack. In addition to something like pfSense to protect your network, it's also a good idea to have one on each computer. In your case, that ERP is blocked. Find out what port it uses and configure pfSense to pass it.
BTW, it sounds like your company needs someone who understands network security.

Agree.

You're addressing two things at once here:
- One is the firewall that sits between your internet connection and your Lan (pfSense)
- The other is the "firewall" on your local (Windows?) workstations
Unless your ERP is somewhere in the cloud it shouldn't interfere with a firewall on your internet connection. If your ERP is in the cloud you need to configure the firewall accordingly. Is that what you described as "a way in pfsense to bypass it"? Then yes, of course it can be done.
If you don't have the resources or knowledge to properly install a firewall yourself then get a local professional who does this for you. Act quickly.

"firewalls" on desktops tend not to be first class citizens. pfSense does one job and does it well. Desktops do a million jobs and firewalls are an after-thought. And that's ignoring the whole central point of edge management vs making sure every device in the network is configured correctly.
