DHCP Setup Question - Static Mappings Only
-
Hi all,
I have a (hopefully) very simple DHCP setup question: Let's assume I have a subnet - 192.168.1.1/24 with only 5 clients, each with a DCHP static mapping i.e. 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.6. No other devices are allowed to receive an IP via DCHP on the subnet. To set this up properly in pfSense under DHCP for the subnet, would I just setup the static mapping for each of the 5 clients and leave the DHCP range blank? Would I also need to check "Deny Unknown Clients"? Or would there be a different way to setup this up? Thanks in advance for your help, I really appreciate it.

Deny unknown clients.
You can leave the DHCP pool active. That way you can set a static mapping with no address defined if a pool address is what you desire there.

Makes perfect sense - thanks @Derelict.
