webgui loops back to login after successful authentication

Hi,
Trying to set up a PFsense firewall (2.3.5) on virtual box (i386 processor)
The install seems to go through fine.
When I try to login via Webgui it seems to loop straight back to the login page and displays the authentication prompt again.
The console displays a log message telling me that the authentication was successful (i have also deliberately used incorrect credentials and I see an authentication denied message over the console) so its not an authentication issue.
From the console i have restarted the webgui / webconfigurator. I have rebooted the device.
I have removed the virtual machine and reinstalled.
I'm at a bit of a loss. Does anyone have any ideas? -

Please ignore this post. it seems 3rd time lucky on installing this. Unfortunately nothing intelligent to say on how this was resolved. i must have either made a mistake in one of the setting during the first 2 installs in Virtual Box (cant imagine what though). or something is messed up on my system or installation off VirtualBox but its resolved.
apologies to anyone having spend time reading :-)
