I recently upgraded from a Netgear SOHO to pfSense with an 8 port switch.
The only issue I've ran into is with my DLNA server. Ever since then, hosts on my LAN are not able to detect the DLNA server.
I am not trying to access my DLNA content from outside of my network. There are not multiple VLANs or subnets.
I caught the firewall blocking broadcasts from the DLNA server in the logs. I allowed them, but am still getting issues.
Any suggestions? Thank you!
If the DLNA server and clients are plugged into the switch and the switch is on the LAN then pfSense won't be getting in the way.
That was my initial thought! It threw me off when I saw broadcast packets from the DLNA server being blocked in the logs. That's what prompted me to post here.
I'm going to play around with my switch and see if anything there might be blocking it. Thanks!
You say you don't have "multiple VLANs or subnets". Do you have one subnet and no VLANs?
Yes sir. Everything is on the same /24 network.
I turned off IGMP Snooping on my switch. It was blocking multicast traffic incorrectly. Wireshark before and after is like night and day. All is well.
Thanks again for your time, biggsy.
Good to hear you found the problem.
