<![CDATA[Noob: Comcast - getting odd IP Netgear CM modem]]>Hello, went from testing Sophos UTM on a Netgear CM1000 with Comcast...to pfSense. The Sophos seemed to pickup my local dynamic IP from CC whereas pfSense seems to pull a number from a state far away...perhaps a static I am NOT supposed to be using?

Is this normal ? Need to get CM1000 into bridge mode potentially?

It’s not uncommon for two different routers to pull two different IP addresses in two different subnets either.

Also, geolocation of IP addresses isn’t an exact science, so it may take a few weeks, or even a couple months, for an address’s location to be updated by the various companies that provide geolocation services.

I see other comments online about Comcast randomly changing IP's to out of state locations. The timing seems unusual however.
