Problem with Software Client
-
Hello
I have a software that establishes a connection with a server on the Internet. Unfortunately, the software hangs when a connection is established. If the client is connected directly to the router without firewall, I have no Problems. The firewall is default configured, and all other connections works. I have no blocks in the firewall logs with this software.Does somebody has any idea!

Are you using pfSense? What is your network topology/architecture? Need a lot more information to start helping you.
-
Yeah going to need more than that..
Mechanic: So what is wrong with your car?
User: It's Broke..
Mechanic: ROLLEYES... -
Hello
I have Pfsense 2.4.4 Interface 1 Lan and 1 WAN.
Clients have DHCP -
User: The car is Blue does that help..
Dude!! How is that info suppose to help us? That is exactly what 98% of all the pfsense users on the planet have setup.. 1 wan and 1 lan and dhcp..
Do other things work - ie normal internet.. What is this software client some sort of vpn? Did you modify your default lan rules? etc.. Need something to work with!!
-
@johnpoz All other work fine Internet etc, no modify lan rules, the software ist columbus client for distribute software

columbus client
Do you have a link to this software? Does it use some sort of vpn tech to connect? What protocols does it use? Are you running any packages like proxy or IPS? or pfblocker on pfsense?
What sort of error does the client give you?
If I found the correct client? https://www.brainwaregroup.com/en/
There there is a log you can look at brainware.log that should give you some details.Which version do you have? From this
https://kb.brainwaregroup.com/operationsmanager/faces/kb/brainwaregroup%20kb/article/AA-00988There are lot of PORTS... Where is this server(s) its talking too - out on the internet.. Or on your local network going to need more info of your network setup to help you figure out where the problem is.
-
@johnpoz Dude, Brainware is right Client V. 7.3, server is out on the internet, will read the log file,
-
So your saying the infrastructure is all on the internet... Did you setup the port forwards - looks like there is a push that runs udp port 9879..
Did you setup that port forward in pfsense? Also sounds like your pfsense is behind NAT? Since you say your client works when you connect to this router, etc..
I would suggest you contact them for support in getting their software working through a firewall. Pfsense out of the box blocks no outbound protocols.. But its not going to allow any unsolicited inbound traffic until they set it up..
7.3... Wow that must be OLD... current is 7.5.5
Looks like 7.3 end of support was Dec 2017.... Come on people WTF!!

@johnpoz thanks a lot for your helping, i will contact the support,
