Segmentation fault using pfSense-upgrade
-
Hi, I noticed the update part of the web interface keeps saying
Unable to check for updates
and even after I hit save in the update options (A few people suggested that) it still failed saying the same thing.Another suggestion was turning off the ramdisk which my box was saying that it was over capacity by 110% and rebooting however that didn't work either.
I found this thread https://forum.netgate.com/topic/122668/segmentation-fault-on-update but unlike them my
pkg info
does return something and I am even able to update usingpkg update
fine.I am assuming the
pfSense-upgrade
command does more than just update packages and probably updates the database etc right?I'm not the biggest expert on BSD so some help would be greatly appreciated!
pfSense-upgrade Segmentation fault (core dumped) Segmentation fault (core dumped) Segmentation fault (core dumped) Segmentation fault (core dumped) Segmentation fault (core dumped) Segmentation fault (core dumped) Segmentation fault (core dumped) Segmentation fault (core dumped) ERROR: It was not possible to identify which pfSense kernel is installed

It seems that I didn't notice that it was failing to update due to snort being all kinds of weird. I just removed it with
pkg remove snort
and then attempted to update withpkg upgrade
which was successful. After that I rebooted and tried out thepfSense-upgrade
utility again which was successful.Hopefully this helps someone with the same issue.

Which is why you really should list any and all packages you have installed in your OP...
