Crash after upload speed test
-
Hi, im runnung pfsense on Atomic pi. Pfsense does routing on single nic with vlan setup for different networks including the wan side. On the wan side im connecting with pppoe to a ftth modem. The speed should be 70/70. But when im trying to do a speedtest on the wan side it crashes when it comes to the upload test. Download test works fine. The box isnt responding anymore when the upload test begins.
Is there a easy fix for this? I saw there are a few tweaks in loader.conf but no luck for me yet.

Not responding at the GUI? SSH? via the console?
Do you have a crash report?
Any sort of logged error?
What NIC does that use?

Hi, i can ping it but nothing else.. i dont have serial console because it fails to boot if i enable the uarts. The nic is a Realtek RTL8111. Where can i find the logs/enable logging? Cheerz -
In Status > System Logs. Check in particular for any watchdog timeout errors from the Realtek driver. If you see those you might try the alternative driver: https://forum.netgate.com/topic/135850/official-realtek-driver-binary-1-95-for-2-4-4-release
If it's still responding to ping though that may not be the issue. Really need console access to see what's happening.

I tried the driver but no luck. just kernel panic.....???
Anyway, is there a way i could use a serial to usb for serial console?
I tried uplcom and it works, but im not sure how to connect it to the serial console.

Finaly i got the serial console working and found out there is a watchdog timeout of the realtek chip

The only fix for that I'm aware of is using the alternative driver. Other than swapping out the NIC which obviously isn't an option here.
I would post in the driver thread and see if anyone else has seen the same issues as you.

I tried it again, now it works....
Not sure what happened...
Maybee the reinstall from scratch helped...
Thank you -
Ah, nice! Fingers crossed that fixes the timeout issue.
