XG-7100 SFP/SFP+
-
I'm wanting to use the SFP+ port on the 7100 to be my trunk to a Unifi-24-250 switch SFP port. I don't really know what I need or if there is a compatibility issue. I'm not very familiar with the fiber lingo. Can someone point me in the right direction?

@bhjitsense said in XG-7100 SFP/SFP+:
Unifi-24-250 switch
sfp can only do 1g.. While the 7100 sfp+ ports can do 10..
There are some listed compatible sfp+ modules here
https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/xg-7100-1u/io-ports.html#sfp-ethernet-ports-ix0-ix1Some can do gig and 10ge.
I do not have a xg7100, nor that unifi switch - so not able to say for sure what would work and what wouldn't for your specific setup. But your going to want to make sure they support the same modes and have the same connectors.. Be it multimode or single mode.

@johnpoz Thanks for the reply, I understand it would run at 1 Gps. So would it best I get a Netgate brand SFP module for the router, then a Ubiquiti brand SFP module for the switch? As long as they both support multimode LC connections? Are there any other particulars I'd need to look for?

I wouldn't think so.. As long they both support the fiber type your going to use.
