<![CDATA[Netgate SG-1100 (wired router) setup with phone hotspot]]>Hello Forum,

I would appreciate any help you can provide me to get me up and running. I have tried several times to use the mobile hotspot on my iPhone to provide a source of internet, through a Netgate router, to my computer. I have adapters that enable me to connect the iPhone to the WAN port with an RJ45 running from the LAN port to my laptop. I have also tried connecting the USB charger cord into the USB interface on the router, but this has not provided me a connection. I understand that an "ISP-supplied modem" is mentioned in the startup guide listed below, but I am curious whether my hotspot will work for this. Thoughts?

I could see how it might be possible though.

I don't know though, this is the first time I've heard that an adapter like that existed. That's pretty cool.

When you connect it does the WAN port show as UP in pfSense?

Is it pulling an IP address via DHCP from the iphone?

This is the box I use to do it:

This will allow you to attach your iPhone, thru a USB cable, into the USB port on the GL-iNet box. Pick the proper settings on there, then plug a network cable from a LAN port on the GL-iNet box into the WAN port of your pfsense box.
