Wireless NIC has no carrier. Why not?

I'm seeking support from the community on why my wireless NIC doesn't have a carrier in the status category under interfaces. This device is a Linksys WMP300N card (PCI). I have been successful in creating a .KO file and loading it with the kldload command. I can't load it automatically yet but still researching this. When I check under kldstat I see it's working and ifconfig shows that the device is active. Please help me with any information you have such as links and suggestions. Thank you for your time.
