DHCP Server Bug: Don't Put Quotes in Descriptions!
-
It appears that the content of the Description field in the DHCP server is not properly validated. If you enter a quote character it will cause an error and the DHCP server will not start. This knocked everything off my network until I figured it out!
Just letting you all know!

Just curious... what did you actually put in quotes?

Good question! I got one of those sixteen-inch MacBook Pros and put this in the description:
Stephen's 16" MacBook ProIf this was the only thing I did before it failed I would have figured it out quickly. But since it's DHCP, things kept working for quite a while before failing quietly one after the other. And I changed a few other settings in the mean time. Quite maddening!

If it lets you, you can open a bug at https://redmine.pfsense.org/.

Maybe you put that in the Client Identifier field (which is not a description)?
