setting a google home to static ip?
i have a homeautomation system at home and i have added my google home devices to this automation, the problem is that sometimes these google home devices changes the ip, and there isnt possible to set a static ip in these devices, can i somehow set them with a static ip in pfsense?
Go into the DHCP server settings and create static mappings. In fact, when a device has a DHCP address, you can directly convert it to a static mapping.
thank you for your answer.
so is it the static arp that i need to enable?
i must say that my knowledge about this is close to zero.
No, go into Status > DHCP leases and find the device. Then you can edit the item and make it a static lease and assign the address you want.
i have now tried to set a static ip to my google home, bu i must be doing something wrong, i have save saved the configuration in pfsense, like this:
38:8b:59:12:bd:31 192.168.1.99 Google-Home-Mini Google kök
this is from the DHCP Static Mappings for this Interface.
bu if i go in to Domoticz which is my home automation software i still the the google home with ip 192.168.1.79, not 126.96.36.199 as i set it to in pfsense.
what am i doing wrong?
Did you reboot that device? If not, you'll have to wait until the lease expires and it tries to renew the address.
thanks for your help, a reboot helped, now it works just fine :)
