Is this still valid

Re: Searching for NetDiscover or equivalent tool.
@johnpoz Hi, I was just wondering if this "pkg add http://pkg.freebsd.org/freebsd:10:x86:64/latest/All/arp-scan-1.9.txz" is still valid and will work on pfsense 2.4.5-RELEASE-p1?
Also, I am assuming that if it is valid and will work I would use the Diagnostics / Command Prompt to run it? Or would I need to remote into the shell or use the console from the server directly to run the add package command?
AND, is the pkg add command similar to Linux in that it will get/unpack and install the package all in one go so it is ready for use when done or is there further steps/ commands to issue once it is done?
I assume it will be ready for use when done.
Thanks a bunch for your knowledge and time!
I DO appreciate it.

Nope, you need to use FreeBSD 11 repo for pfSense 2.4.5p1:
https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/releases/versions-of-pfsense-and-freebsd.htmlYes 'pkg add' will extract the binaries etc. You may need to run
rehash
to rebuilt the list so it knows where to find it after installing.Steve

You will need to be root, or arp-scan must be SUID root, in order to run arp-scan, because the functions that it uses to read and write packets require root privilege. The target hosts can be specified as IP addresses or hostnames. You can also specify the target as IPnetwork/bits (e.g. 192.168.1.0/24) to specify all hosts in the given network (network and broadcast addresses included), or IPstart-IPend (e.g. 192.168.1.3-192.168.1.27) to specify all hosts in the inclusive range, or IPnetwork:NetMask (e.g. 192.168.1.0:255.255.255.0) to specify all hosts in the given network and mask. These different options for specifying target hosts may be used both on the command line, and also in the file specified with the --file option. use "arp-scan --help" for detailed information on the available options.
