IPSEC IKEV2 MS CHAP V2
-
Hi,
I have set up a ipsec remote access vpn for my mobile devices using the docs. However im abit concerned about the security aspect of this method
From what i can see, the steps involve installing the CA onto the device so it can trust the server and the only authentication mechinism is the preshared key (Username and password).
Am i right to be concerned about this or should it be alright running it like this?

That depends on how secure your user accounts are. If they use weak credentials, then it may be worth worrying about. Otherwise, it is likely fine.
If you are worried, you could use EAP-TLS instead, and then the users would need certificates on their devices to connect to the VPN.

Right now I’m using a LastPass generated password 16 charachter and just saving the credentials . Just abit concerned about this approach as it’s just 1fa , I’m saving the password and the vpn gives full access to my network
Also, what does using certificates protect against ? Not sure on how it enhances security
