Some of my devices do not get an IP address from pfSense
-
I have had pfSense (2.4.5-RELEASE-p1 (amd64)) running solidly for more than 9 months and suddenly I am having issues with select devices in my home apparently not being served their IP addresses, even when I have given the device a static IP address. The system log for DHCP shows the request and DHCPACK, but the device appears does not get the IP address from pfSense and cannot connect to the internet. The DHCP status shows the device online, even though it is not. The only fix seems to be to reboot pfSense and this solution lasts for a variable length of time. Suggestions for troubleshooting, please. Thanks.

@elliott32224 If you see the DHCPACK leaving the interface it should be on the wire.
You could packet capture on that interface, specify the UDP protocol and the usual DHCP ports, and start a capture.
Then you unplug the device that has issues, and plug it back in. This triggers the device to initiate a DHCP request. This request, and the answer, should be present in the captured file.
Next step will be : check wires, switches etc. You could even capture on the device if possible. What devices are you talking about ?

@gertjan Thank you for this response. All is well this morning. For the past several days, I have been awakening to several devices being offline. These include a weather station hub (WeatherFlow), my old iRulu tablet, and a couple of my Honeywell thermostats. When this occurs again, I will see what the packet capture shows.
