Why is CRON generating many child zombie processes?
-
These are the schedules we have at CRON. Zabbix is warning us that there are many processes in PFSense, when I went to see, there were many zombie processes, with the father being CRON. How can I resolve this without having to restart the server?

Remove the package that included the extra cron lines.

The two entries at the bottom of the list for Snort jobs are normal when you install the Snort package. One has cron execute a task every 5 minutes to see if any log files need rotating, and the other job checks to see if the Snort team (or Emerging Threats, when used) has posted a new set of rules. That job runs every 12 hours by default.

@gertjan Version 2.4.5-RELEASE-p1. swapstate_check.php was already by default, and we need to get the Squid package installed.
