UK - BT and static blocks with nat
-
grrrr….. BT!! but have no choice
anyway, using pfsense (newbie at mo) and we have just aqquired 5 static ip's from BT.
we're using a draytek 100 which uses a pppoa to pppoe bridge which allows all ip's to pass through to the wan side of pfsense.
now, because we're using pppoe to authenticate directly from pfsense, we can't see where to attempt to configure a static ip within the wan setup. our other draytek routers allow us to specify a dynamic or static ip and aliases with the pppoe connection.
has anybody in the uk got pfsense working with pfsense?
thank you

come across this little guide. although it's for a netgear, there's a good network diagram which would work with most setup's in the thread.
basically, the router/modem that is connecting to the adsl still get's a dynamic ip. nat is turned off and the ip address of the lan side of the router is configured with a usable static ip from the range given by the isp. you can then put the vip's in pfsense but use the router lan ip address as the gateway.
pppoa/pppoe is done on the modem/router so the wan side of pfsense can be static.
