OVH pfSense install, Virtual IP's not working on WAN
-
I have a pfsense vm on my proxmox machine hosted by OVH. I am trying to allocate multiple public ip's to the WAN, so I created the virtual IPs and they all work on LAN, but they do not connect on WAN
Am I doing something wrong? is there more context I need to add? if so ask, I'll answer as I see it -
Yes, more info needed!
Define 'works on LAN'. How are you testing?
Can you connect to them from another VM on the same WAN side bridge?

As stated more info is needed. Did you create the mac address for these IPs?
Where is the gateway.. From the proxmox wifi about OVH mac address creation and gateway being outside the netblock also mentioned.

@johnpoz
I created a mac address for the main WAN ip, the Virtual IP's, didn't see an option (i'm pretty new to pfSense)
The pfsense instance can ping 1.1.1.1.here's the devices for it via proxmox
and virtual ip addreses
(blocked out the ip addresses format used 1.1.1.1/24)

Didn't realise i didn't fully answer
I have pfSense as bridge for 6 other vms, one is a desktop environment, which is only on the lan, (no WAN connection)
the test was me trying to connect to the ip alias via that box (which took me to pfsense) and than trying to go to the same ip via my desktop, which didn't take me anywhere.
The LAN can connect to the web, as it's main ip has the proper routing and gateway -

The pfsenseThe part about mac's not a pfsense thing - seems like proxmox thing with ovh.. Read the link I posted.
I am guess here, I don't run proxmox on ovh with anything.. But that sort of thing jumped out at me when looking to what could be a problem
" But first you need to use the OVH manager to create a virtual OVH mac address for the IPv4 address you want to assign"

Actually, i found a fix, apparently i can assign the same mac to all the ips via OVH, coolio, now i can ping em and do what i need ;3Thanks for all the help :3

So it was the OVH mac thing you had to do.. Great - glad you got it sorted.

This is the sort of thread that could be very useful for next guy.. I would assume a few people could run into such a problem... Wonder if might be useful to add note in the pfsense docs if running on proxmox on ovh.. Have to look to see what is in the offical docs if anything about running pfsense on proxmox, etc.
