      Does anyone know if the Mellanox Connect X-3 Pro will work with Pfsense on 2.5 as it has drivers that support Mellanox Connect X-3. I am unsure if the "Pro" firmware differences in the card make any difference to the drivers.

      I have some HP 10gbe sfp+ NIC's I can get hold of with this network chip so if anyone know's let me know.

      Thanks

        @terrencettibbs pfSense includes mlx4en(4) driver starting from 2.4.5 version:

        # kldstat -v | grep mlx
        		593 mlx4
        		594 mlx4en
        		235 pci/mlx
        		234 mlx/mlxd

          @viktor_g Hi, thanks for the reply. I had already seen that post about the drivers. It does show mellanix connect x-3 is supported but shows (eth) in brackets , however it doesn’t specify whether the pro series of cards are supported. I will have to try them and see.

            @terrencettibbs Follow up...

            I can confirm that the HP 779791-001 network cards 10gbe 546sfp+ works with Pfsense 2.5.1 running on DELL R220. Running 1230v3 XEON and 32GB. Will post again when I've done some iperf testing. See if I can get anywhere near 10gbps.

            Power consumption for anyone interested is 38W on idle using SSD for OS drive.

            I now have 2 x 10 gbe for LACP VLANS and 2 onboard 2 x 1gbe for the WAN and WAN WIFI FAILOVER. Now I can intervlan route without powerhog L3 switches!

            Result!
