I have a Netgate MBT-2220. I have been trying to update pfsense to the latest stable version 2.5.1. It is currently running 2.4.5.... I have never once gotten this thing to successfully do a release update. I even tried uninstalling all my plugins aside from Snort. I have tried both from the CLI and GUI. Every time I have to download the latest public release. and do a fresh install. That wouldn't be so bad if restoring the config.XML would work. It crashed the system too.... Then I have to reinstall it all over again and rebuild all my configs manually.
Any ideas or do I just need to trash this thing and get a newer SG.

The MBT-2220 should upgrade no problem. I've just been testing one here for 2.5.2 upgrades.

It looks like you have a failing SSD:

Thanks, I was wondering about that. I saw that when I was looking through the report. but I wasn't entirely sure if it was referencing a drive error or only a corrupted file system. When I bought it how ever many years ago I had them add the extra 32 GB SD card and that's what the system is loaded on... As I have had issues with it the whole time I guess it's been bad all along.

It's an m.2 SATA drive in the MBT not SD card default. The log shows a SATA device.

That crash looks like more than just a filesystem error to me. There are also a whole bunch of Snort crashes shown. Memory exhaustion perhaps?

You would expect to see issues other than just at upgrade though.
