      Hi,
we upgraded some boxes from 2.4.x to 2.5.2.

Everything was working great on 2.4.x. Since we upgraded, CARP failover is not working as expected.

In the logs, we can see the following entries:

      Aug 9 09:22:46	check_reload_status	374	Carp backup event
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel em0: promiscuous mode enabled
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel carp: demoted by 240 to 240 (interface down)
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel carp: demoted by 240 to 480 (interface down)
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel em1: promiscuous mode enabled
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel carp: demoted by 240 to 720 (interface down)
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel carp: demoted by 240 to 960 (interface down)
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel carp: 133@em1: INIT -> BACKUP (initialization complete)
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel carp: demoted by -240 to 720 (interface up)
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel carp: 132@em1: INIT -> BACKUP (initialization complete)
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel carp: demoted by -240 to 480 (interface up)
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel carp: 131@em0: INIT -> BACKUP (initialization complete)
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel carp: demoted by -240 to 240 (interface up)
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel carp: 130@em0: INIT -> BACKUP (initialization complete)
Aug 9 09:22:46	kernel carp: demoted by -240 to 0 (interface up)

When we disable pfsync, everything works as expected. But we want pfsync enabled.

We use a dedicated interface for pfsync.

      Any idea?
