mDNS stops working with selective routing
-
Hi, please forgive me if this is not the appropriate section for the question.
I configured avahi to replay mDNS across VLANs, and got Chromecast working on different VLAN from casting devices. However it would stop if I changed the gateway. Since I want to use VPN for streaming, I want Chromecast to be on a specific gateway to VPN, and as soon as I change, Chromecast cannot be paired.
I have tried quite a lot of combinations. Pairing and casting works with Chromecast and casting devices on the same VLAN regardless of gateway settings, i.e. Chromecast and casting devices on the default and/or same and/or different gateway. But across VLAN, it only works with default gateway for Chromecast and casting devices.
Please help me with this. Thank you in advance.

Are you talking about setting gateway in firewall rule - ie policy routing? If so they you need a rule to allow the intervlan traffic before you route it out some gateway.

@johnpoz it works with the rule to bypass policy routing, thank you thank you

@phr0zent glad you got it sorted - moved this to general firewall. Since this is more just basic firewall issue. Could maybe be in routing section. But this is better than switching/vlan section
