What is the best way to monitor traffic ?
-
I am using Darkstat and BandwidthD to monitor my network traffic, but either one kind of leaves me wanting more... I have been able to identify my bandwidth hogs, but other than being able to see the amount of bandwidth they use, is there a way to see where they're going ?
-
@rbarden generically, the destination IP is where they are going (but you already knew that), so a list of destination IPs or resolved destinations?
I'm not sure what's exactly available in the packages that would provide that, but there should be something. -
@rbarden
I use NTOP-NG.
But nothing is "free" in terms of cpu cycles or promiscious mode on the netcards./Bingo
