It's a standard install, no packages, nada. Just trying to get the bugger up.

Any suggestions?

Plug your old Linksys back up, establish connection with internet… check it to make sure you can get on..

then.. go into Linksys router, release the WAN IP and immediately unplug the cable modem's Power supply

then plug the ethernet cable (wan) from cable modem to pfSense box's NIC and plug back in the cable modem

Comcast only allows 1 MAC address at a time to collect an IP address..

This worked perfectly. The pfSense box now has a WAN address from comcast.

My next stupid question is. what would the next step be? How do I get my wireless clients on the network? I have the LAN cable from pfSense connected to one of the standard switch ports on teh Linksys WAP (Not WAN). Currently I have my WAP is setup to be a DHCP server, but obviously no Internet access as pfSense now has the WAN interface. Should I make the pfSense box the DHCP server, will my WAP pass the DHCP requests? Or I could figure out some type of static route to put into the WAP.

I have a feeling I'm over thinking this so could mote definitely use some help!

Any thoughts would be appreciated…on topic of course ;P

Thanks,

Connect one of the LAN ports Linksys Router/AP to the pfSense box and you should be good to go.

Comcast is probably locking the DHCP release down to your MAC address. Enter the WAN port MAC address on the Linksys in the pfSense box WAN configuration page and you should be up and running.
