Openvpn works after import, but cannot be restarted
-
Hi,
I installed a remote vps with Debian and openvpn-install. I tested the server with a openvpn client and it works as intended.
I imported the ovpn file in pfSense+ 22.01, after clicking save the connection comes online and I see no error while tailing /var/log/openvpn.log
Status -> OpenVPN shows the connection as online, perfect. If I reboot pfSense, or restart the connection, it fails and logs:
Options error: Unrecognized option or missing or extra parameter(s) in /var/etc/openvpn/client2/config.ovpn:34: tls-cipher (2.5.4)
I played with the settings in the config file, but it will just point to a different line number. After that it leaves the status as:
Service not running? Unable to contact daemon:
When I delete the connection, and re-add it, it all come online as intended.
What is different between the initial connect and a re-connect? I checked the pid misalignment issue, but the pid is correctly added in the pid file.

Hello Vasily,
Unfortunately not, in the end I created a vm for that subnet and rolled my own setup on Linux.
