Bridge blocking. [SOLVED]
-
I have a DSL router set in bridge mode. I also have two more unused LAN ports on my pfSense box. This is what im trying to achieve.
I want to connect bridged DSL router to port 1 on pfSense box. Then create a bridge interface between port 1 and port 2 on pfSense box. And then, create firewall rule on the bridge interface that will allow or block access to bridged DSL modem via port 2 on pfSense box.
Is this possible ?

Yes, you can do that.
If the modem is in bridge mode though you would usually only connect one thing to it. What exactly are you filtering? Why?

Excellent. I will do that.

Im connecting IP-TV box that is completely locked by the provider. They refuse to share the code so i can use advanced features. All i can do is connect it to a bridged port on DSL modem, turn it on, change the channels and volume. Thats it. No timers, no parental locks, NOTHING. Which is, if you ask me, absolutely insane.
I want to create a scheduled firewall rule that will kick in at specified hour and allow access to bridged DSL modem and allow kids to watch TV. And then, also at a certain hour, firewall rule will kick in again, disabling access to bridged DSL router. No more TV, kids go to sleep. Problem solved. Never thought i would use pfSense as a parental lock device.
Once again, thank you for your help @stephenw10

Ah, OK. Yeah that should work.
