<![CDATA[Multiple OPT interfaces as a switch or on same subnet]]>I've acquired a watchguard X750e and pfSensed it :)

Its got 8 (Yes 8) gig ether ports. I'm only usin 3 at the moment WAN LAN and WIFI, there is probably going to be a dual wan setup in the near future. this leaves 4 spare gig ethernet ports :)

It crossed my mind that it may be possible to make these all appear  on the same subnet and act as a switch a la cisco wic-4es sharing a vlan. I'm struggling to find a way to do this.

The msk0-3 expansion ports also don't appear to support vlaning from the interface menu drop down either, but the sk0-3 ports do.
From investigating the vlaning capability of pfsense an i correct in assuming that multiple vlans run off 1 interface giving multiple virtual interfaces accessible via a vlan capable switchand not vica versa ie. multiple interfaces on a single vlan?

I've got an 8GB CF coming and plan to put a nanobsd installation on. The 128 will then go into a 6 port X700. I'll then try some carp :)

its just with 4 spare ports going spare. having an inbuilt switch would be cool. ::)

Combining a number of physical interfaces is sometimes called "link aggregation".

This is possibly a bug. The FreeBSD vlan man page says msk is "capable of full VLAN processing".
