ipv6 ping remote dos bug?
-
I accidentally found a bug causing pfsense to crash and reboot. I have not test if it is only a bug in ipv6 gif tunnel since i don't have native ipv6 to test it (and i don't have lab). here's the details:
software: pfsense plus 23.01
IPv4 WAN interface over VLAN
GIF tunnel (HE tunnel /64 prefix, fixed MTU 1480)Reproduce:
- Firewall ipv6 rule allow any any on GIF tunnel interface (edit: traffic logging is enabled)
- Ping from any remote machine (i am using linux), with command "ping [PFSENSE_IPV6] -s 65500"
Then pfsense console will start to spamming, before reboot it shows somethings like "cpu_reset"?
No error report shown in the pfsense dashboard just like nothing happened.

It should be making a crash dump file and offering to let you download it, unless this system doesn't have a swap partition.
What hardware is this on?

I was able to reproduce it here and it did create a textdump for me. We're looking into it now.
