Lost pfsense plus licence
-
Hello,
I had a pfsense plus licence since the start when it was free for home users. My NIC died and had to replace it. Now, it says "Your device has not been registered for pfSense+. Please purchase a pfSense+ subscription to receive future updates." Is that true? I am on 25.7.1 and see no updates, or drop-down in branch, in updates. Is my only option to install pfsense CE on the machine, or is there a way to recover the licence? I assumed the licence was tied to the machine and not just the NIC.
Thanks.

@rakman the Netgate Device ID (NDI) depends on the hardware and mostly the NICs. And the license is bound to the NDI (search for NDI on this forum and you'll find a few threads of people with that issue)
If you add or replace a NIC the NDI will change. Best to open a support request with Netgate:
https://www.netgate.com/tac-support-request
I'm not totally sure how they handle the free home user license, they may change it to the new NDI once, they may not.
Are you using any of the Plus features?

@rakman @stephenw10 is normally quite helpful with ndi related issues.
Also check your email, I got an email from netgate that today is upgrade to + day, with a 50% off code if you just want to buy the license again ;)

@patient0 @johnpoz Thank you both. I will wait to see if @stephenw10 can help me with the licence issue.
I opened a support request with Netgate. They replied saying they can't help me.
